Description Our Team The Digital Curation team devises and implements the content curation strategies across our VoD estate and ensures the right tactical and strategic content decisions are made to increase viewing, users and drive habitual usage across our services. Purpose of the role This role is responsible for the day-to-day curation and presentation of VoD content across the VoD estate to increase viewing, engage and retain viewers and increase habitual use. The Digital Curation Exec works collaboratively with wider digital, Tech & Ops, Marketing, Programming, Media Planning to ensure optimal curation and presentation to viewers and liaise with platform partners to secure editorial feature support. You will also assist with the scheduling, running and expansion of UKTV’s FAST channels. What we would like you to bring to the role….key experience, knowledge, skills & personal qualities Experience Experience of editorial merchandising, scheduling, planning or curation within a streaming service, VoD within a broadcast environment, linear broadcast environment, FAST channel provider or worked in a consumer-facing editorial role within the creative or media industries. Experience of using content and schedule management tools, or social media management tools. Experience of using performance data to improve VoD viewing and content discovery. Experience of Agile working, collaboratively and cross-functionally with other teams is advantageous. Knowledge Understanding of on-demand scheduling and often complex rights windows. A knowledge of UKTV’s brands, content and audiences, plus an understanding of the VoD competitor landscape. Skills & personal qualities Experience of Content Management Systems to merchandise content. Specific experience in Whats’ON (WON) or other Broadcast Management Systems. Experience of using A/B Testing tools would be an advantage. Excellent numeracy and written skills. Strong IT and admin skills, including experience with Excel and other database packages. An ability to precisely manage a large volume of complex and detailed information in a highly process-oriented environment. Ability to draw insights from data sets and reporting to understand and improve presentation and performance for users. Ability to multi-task and work across multiple brands and genres with differing audiences Ability to communicate and present at all levels of the business in-person and remotely using video conferencing tools. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments. A proactive and flexible approach to work and be comfortable working to deadlines within a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities. Passionate about TV content with strong editorial judgement, plus good knowledge, and awareness of the VoD landscape and emerging trends. What you will get to work on….key outputs and responsibilities of the role Curate engaging on-demand offerings for VoD platforms, using available content from the catalogue, including VoD Exclusives, genre catch-up, boxset drops and the archive of classics, in line with the strategy to expand viewing, viewers and increase habitual use. Assist the Digital Curation Lead to conceive plans and execute ideas for curated collections and stunts on platforms, ensuring all copy and design elements are approved for use. Liaise with VoD third-party platforms and TV partners editorial teams as directed by the Digital Curation Lead. Assist with offering editorial and UI opportunities to UKTV’s TV partners to help them plan, grow viewing and deliver value to their users. Be responsible for the timely distribution of a weekly highlights newsletter to the Pay, FTA and FAST platform partners, and share ownership of the longer-range highlights which are sent to platform contacts periodically. Brief platform image and key art refreshes to maximise merchandising across VoD platforms. Act as the day-to-day contact for platform partners, offering answers to curation queries and escalating any issues to internal stakeholders. Manage and update the relevant content curation planning calendar and other tracking documents. Set up and execute multi-variant testing the VoD offering across the estate, adjusting and tracking the presentation and results of content. Support the Digital Curation Lead with the planning, design and presentation of content roadmaps to platform partners. Understand the network content pipeline and audience targets to super-serve users of U to convert new and retain existing users. Stay up to date with VoD performance and viewing trends to inform the Digital Curation team’s curation and presentation decisions. Work closely with the VoD Images team to track prominence across all TV platforms and report findings back to the business. Schedule and manage FAST channels. Support the Digital Curation Lead and Head of Digital Curation to grow FAST by rolling out new FAST channels onto existing platforms and preparing channel launches on new platforms. Create programmes in Whats’ON, adding relevant information as required. Contribute to the backlog of feature improvements for content curation and CMS, working alongside the Product and Production & Development teams. Assist with testing and rollout of next gen VoD services, features and system upgrades. Form strong internal relationships with Marketing, Press & Comms, Creative and Commercial to deliver promotional initiatives for VoD, including promos, bespoke collections, and partner engagement activities. Support the Digital Curation Lead, deputise in their absence and assist with ad-hoc projects as required, including tasks required for the smooth, efficient, and effective management of the content pipeline and services.
