We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to the role of Senior Management Accountant for our 'Your McCarthy Stone' Finance Team based in Bournemouth. (This role offers hybrid and flexible working opportunities as well.)
The Senior Management Accountant will support and assist the Head of Operational Finance in providing professional advice on all financial matters and managing day to day work of the team. They will participate and represent Operational Finance at all team functions and related meetings and have overall responsibility for all month end accounting processes. This includes being accountable for the creation and management of our finance information and preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. Our stakeholders need monthly financial updates and our Senior Leadership Team expect monthly cost centre reports for their strategy meetings. The successful candidates will have responsibility for the line management of the management accounts team within the wider department.
About you
Our ideal candidate for the Senior Management Accountant role will:
1. Be a qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA)
2. Have excellent working knowledge of Excel and finance systems
3. A full understanding of balance sheet codes and reconciliations
4. Experience of participating in year end statutory audits and providing information to auditors
5. Have experience of working in a management account function, preferably in a senior role, dealing with high volumes of transactions.
6. Can prepare and deliver budget and forecasting/cost reports to include identifying and explaining variances, identify trends, risks, and opportunities to the senior management team.
7. Be highly organised with exceptional planning and delivery skills and know when to delegate.
8. Relish a challenge and enjoy working to agreed sometimes tight deadlines.
9. Constantly looking for ways to improve process and systems and resilient in the face of challenges or timeline pressures.
10. Be confident, and clearly communicate their work and findings, and answer queries and questions from our stakeholders.
11. Have previous experience of being a been a coach or mentor within the workplace.
