We are recruiting Unqualified Teaching Assistants to support pupils across secondary schools in the Bath area. This role is ideal for anyone considering a future in teaching, education, youth work or pastoral support and looking to gain valuable, hands-on classroom experience.
No formal teaching qualifications are required. If you have experience working with teenagers, mentoring, coaching or supporting young people, this is an excellent opportunity to transfer your skills into a school environment.
Key Responsibilities (Secondary Teaching Assistant Duties)
Support students across KS3 and KS4 in lessons on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Assist teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities and behaviour management
Provide encouragement and guidance to help students stay focused and engaged
Support pupils with additional needs, confidence, organisation and emotional regulation
Help maintain a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment
Support students during transitions, interventions and non-classroom activities
Build positive, professional relationships with young people who need consistency and support
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience working with children or young people aged 11–16
Confident communication and the ability to build rapport with teenagers
A calm, resilient and patient approach
Strong behaviour awareness and willingness to follow school policies
A proactive, reliable and adaptable attitude
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
Desirable (Not Essential)
Experience in secondary schools, youth work, mentoring or support roles
Interest in teaching, SEND, pastoral support or behaviour mentoring
Experience supporting challenging behaviour or disengaged learners
Relevant training such as safeguarding or first aid
Driver with access to a car (beneficial but not essential)
