Overview
Supply Star Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a provision in Coventry who require a Brick Laying & Construction Instructor to join their team.
You will initially be required to work through Supply Star Recruitment on a probationary period, however on successful completion of this period you will be offered a permanent contract.
The school specifically support learners with Mental Health Needs and ideally would like to appoint someone with the relevant knowledge of Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs.
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver practical bricklaying and basic construction lessons tailored to small groups with diverse SEMH needs.
* Teach essential skills such as brick bonding, mortar mixing, site safety, basic carpentry, and tool use.
* Create a safe, supportive workshop environment with a strong focus on health and safety.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with learners, modelling professional behaviour and high expectations.
* Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual emotional and learning needs.
* Work collaboratively with the wider staff team to support personal development and wellbeing.
* Maintain workshop equipment, tools, and materials.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in bricklaying or general construction (minimum 3-5 years preferred).
* Confident working with young people who have SEMH or behavioural needs.
* Calm, consistent, and resilient, with excellent communication skills.
* Passionate about vocational education and supporting learners to develop confidence and employability skills.
* Organised, safety-conscious, and able to plan engaging practical lessons.
* Ideally holding (or willing to work towards) a teaching, assessor, or training qualification such as AET, DET, or equivalent.
* You must have a clear DBS certificate to be considered for this role. If you do not have one Supply Star Recruitment can support you in obtaining one at a cost of £63.
