Community Organiser (Common Ground Project)

The Community Organiser will fully participate in and contribute to the Common Ground project towards supporting stronger, safer and more stable communities through the promotion of understanding, mutual respect and community participation.This post is funded by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).Fixed Term Contract: 01 December 2025, ending on 31 October 2028Secondments are welcomed


Responsibilities

* Initiating and delivering activities which will improve inter-community relationships and enhance understanding of different cultures and backgrounds.
* Supporting community capacity building, including training of existing and new community leaders.
* Working as part of a team to deliver the Common Ground Project workplan and targets.
* Measuring and evaluating the progress of work undertaken and regularly reporting results to Line Manager and to the Project Lead Partner.
* Work as part of the Common Ground Project Delivery Team to advance the shared vision of the project ensuring cultural diversity and inclusive good relations principles are integrated across all project activities.
* Deliver on agreed outputs and outcomes that promote positive relations, celebrate cultural diversity and support people to live, learn, and socialise free from prejudice, hate and intolerance.
* Work to bridge gaps between communities, fostering positive dialogue, understanding and co-operation among different groups to mitigate animosities.
* Work towards improving relationships and increasing understanding between those from different cultural backgrounds, on a cross-community, cross-border basis across a defined sub regional area.
* Deliver capacity-building and skills development programmes to enhance leadership and engagement across communities.
* Promote cultural diversity and ethnic inclusion through events, training, and communications.
* Ensure compliance with PEACEPLUS funding conditions and Terms of Reference.
* Submit monthly reports detailing progress and performance to senior management.
* Manage project budgets effectively, ensuring all expenditure remains within approved limits and taking appropriate corrective action if required.
* Deliver agreed performance outcomes for the Common Ground Project.

Skills and Qualifications

* Degree / third level qualification and two years’ demonstrable relevant experience as a practitioner in a community or Voluntary sector setting or Housing / Tenant engagement setting.
* OREducated to ‘A’ Level standard (or equivalent) with three years’ demonstrable relevant experience as a practitioner in Community Relations / Community Development / Housing role.
* OR Those candidates who do not hold the above formal qualifications but have five years’ demonstrable relevant experience as a practitioner in a community or Voluntary sector setting or Housing / Tenant Engagement setting may also be considered.
* Hold a current full, (preferably) clean driving license that allows driving in the UK, with use of a private vehicle for business use or, in the case of disability, be able to demonstrate how the mobility requirements of the position will be met.
