Bank Dental Nurse (Kendal)

An opportunity has arisen to expand the Emergency Dental Service team. We are seeking qualified GDC registered Dental Nurses to work within our busy Emergency Dental Service at our Kendal clinic.
Sessions:
* Weekdays (Mon–Fri) 17:45 – 21:45
* Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays 08:15 – 12:15
This is a bank position; sessions will be offered as and when cover is needed, especially for evening sessions.
Main duties of the job
* Provide clinical and clerical support to Trust‑employed Dental Practitioners operating in the NCIC Emergency Dental Service.
* Act as the link between patient and clinician.
* Prepare the surgery and assist the dentist with emergency dental care.
* Carry out reception duties and administrative filing (electronic or paper‑based) within the Emergency Dental Service in Furness and South Lakes.
Required qualifications
* National Certificate NEBDN or equivalent education (e.g. NVQ Level III Oral Healthcare).
* Current GDC registration held or enrolled on a training course.
* Science‑based subject at GCSE.
* Knowledge of the Special Care Dental Service Pathway and Criteria.
* Knowledge of Local Protocol for accessing Emergency Care via Dental Direct and Triage system.

* Manual dexterity and alertness.
* Ability to work under pressure and deal with difficult or aggressive patients.
* Professionalism, empathy and compassion for patients with compromised capacity.
* Computer literacy (IM&T systems for dental practice administration, e.g. SOEL Health or DENTALLY).
