Due to the retirement of the current post holder, we are looking for an enthusiastic nurse to join the established Lymphoedema team at Florence Nightingale Hospice. This is an exciting time to join the team as we have just merged with the Lymphoedema team at Butterfly house and are reviewing the services offered across the county.
You will need to a be motivated team player, flexible and energetic, to join us, with the ability to work both independently & as part of the already established Lymphoedema teams.
Good communication skills are essential to ensure the continued provision of high quality care for individual patients, along with time management & organisational skills to contribute to the provision & smooth running of our high quality services.
Our patients face a range of life limiting conditions, including cancer, respiratory disease, heart failure, neurological conditions, along with primary / secondary Lymphoedema, lipoedema and non-cancer related chronic oedemas. Your role will be diverse, treating these patients in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, Hospice in-patient unit, day hospice & community.
As a specialised practitioner within the teams, your role will also include providing advice and education for carers and healthcare professionals. This may be individual or group sessions.
Main duties of the job
This highly specialist clinical field necessitates managing patients who often have highly complex and diverse physical and emotional needs. The presentation of each patient varies enormously with diagnosis and medical history necessitating ability to draw on a wide range of skills and knowledge, frequently dealing with multiple physical, social, and emotional issues.
·To work as an autonomous specialist practitioner as an integral and supportive member of the specialist nurse-led lymphoedema team and palliative care MDT, providing high quality person centred care to patients with Lymphoedema (cancer and non-cancer) /chronic oedema and their families.
·Responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for patients with Lymphoedema and different types of chronic oedema.
·To work collaboratively with colleagues (both within FNH and externally with primary and secondary care) to raise the profile of lymphoedema management, support the needs of patients and deliver service developments.
·To be responsible for sharing specialist knowledge and skills of lymphoedema management with other members of the MDT and students as appropriate
·To be involved in the management of the team through appraisals, and identifying educational/training needs

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
1. Registered nurse with current NMC registration
2. Evidence of continuing professional development
3. Specialist Lymphoedema qualification/training/experience or willingness to undertake specialist training
4. MLD qualification

6. Evidence of professional development in lymphoedema or chronic oedema / oncology / palliative care / community nursing.

7. Experience of formal & informal teaching
