Mechanical Engineer
Location: Oswestry
Contract Length: Temp to Perm
Pay: £15-16 an hour
Position Summary
Working under general supervision to complete Pre-Delivery Inspections, examinations, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and both minor and major maintenance on a range of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms, including vertical masts, scissor lifts, telescopic booms, and articulating booms.
Responsibilities of a Mechanical Engineer
Inspect major components across a variety of equipment, replacing parts as required.
Complete daily reports and ensure all paperwork is accurate.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
Carry out warranty repairs.
Provide technical support to customers and workshop personnel, including training where required.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Mechanical or electrical engineering certification or equivalent.
Basic understanding of hydraulics and electrical systems.
IPAF 3a/3b, LOLER, FLT or other access-industry certifications (desirable).
Desired Experience of a Mechanical Engineer
2–4 years’ experience in a similar role.
Experience with aerial work platforms preferred but not essential.
Ability to understand electrical and hydraulic circuits/schematics.
Strong mechanical knowledge
Relevant product knowledge advantageous.
Strong technical communication skills.
Ability to support end users with service and repair tasks.
Able to work independently, highly organised, and motivated
