Strategic Business Manager (Hybrid working | Full Time | Fixed Term until 31 May 2027)
About the role
In this high‑profile role, you will work alongside Executive Directors and their Directorate Management Teams. You will provide strategic business management leadership in order to assist decision‑making at the highest level. You will have exceptional communication and organisational skills as you will be required to connect people across various disciplines such as finance, digital, procurement and governance to ensure priorities are aligned, resources are optimised, and services deliver real value for communities.
Responsibilities
* Shape and deliver directorate business strategies aligned to corporate priorities.
* Lead and influence cross‑functional transformation and improvement projects.
* Provide expert insight on governance, performance, risk and business continuity.
* Produce high‑quality reports and contribute to business cases to inform senior decision‑making.
* Use data and insight to drive performance, innovation and value for money.
About you
You will bring senior‑level experience in strategic business management, ideally within local government or a large, complex organisation. You are comfortable operating at pace, influencing across boundaries, and turning complexity into clear strategic direction.
* Significant experience in strategic or partnership‑based business management.
* A strong track record of working with enabling functions such as HR, Finance, IT and Procurement.
* Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
* The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and lead through change.
* A data‑driven mindset, with the ability to turn insight into action.
