About the Firm
NC Associates is delighted to be working with a long-established and well-respected Accountancy Practice based in Wirral. The firm is forward-thinking, ambitious, and focused on delivering an excellent client service. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their Wirral office.
The business offers a supportive and encouraging working environment, with flexible working arrangements including 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
Payroll Specialist Key Responsibilities
* Managing weekly and monthly payrolls and pension schemes for a portfolio of clients
* Processing payroll changes including starters, leavers, bonuses, overtime, sickness, unpaid leave, SMP, SAP, expenses, childcare vouchers, travel allowances and pensions
* Uploading and managing pension contributions across multiple pension providers
* Setting up PAYE and pension schemes for new clients
* Liaising with clients and HMRC, including submission of tax, NI, P45s, P46s, P11Ds and CIS returns
* Responding to payroll-related queries
* Producing spreadsheets to support payroll and CIS reporting
* Ensuring compliance with current HMRC and pension legislation
* Filing confirmation statements with Companies House
* Onboarding new clients, completing MLR checks and setting them up on internal systems
* Managing agent authorisations for tax purposes
* Working closely with clients and directors
* Handling incoming and outgoing post
Payroll Specialist Experience
* Previous experience within an accountancy practice is essential
* Strong working knowledge of BrightPay and BrightPay Connect
* Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Excellent understanding of PAYE and Auto Enrolment
* Able to work independently, manage workloads, and meet deadlines
* Proactive approach to problem-solving
* Basic knowledge of how payroll interacts with other tax areas
* Confident and professional communicator
