PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £41,200 - £49,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE London is a patch like no other serving one of the largest and most diverse cities in Europe; covering some of the biggest stories. BBC London produces original, impactful journalism across online, socials, radio and TV. Our 6.30pm evening programme remains the capital's most watched news, while our online stories and social media posts reach millions and continue to engage new audiences. We are now seeking a Senior Journalist (producer) who's confident leading teams, handling major stories and outputting live TV, while also planning and delivering content across all our platforms.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Lead on live TV news production, from gallery output to programme planning and delivery.
Manage and support daily multi-platform editorial teams, ensuring high-quality and accurate journalism.
Oversee editorial and non-editorial projects, contributing to wider newsroom initiatives.
Deliver high-impact content across online, social media, radio and TV platforms within BBC London and beyond.
Uphold BBC Editorial Policy and Media Law standards, ensuring robust decision making.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Significant experience in live TV news production, including gallery output.
Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, multi-platform newsroom.
Strong editorial judgement with a solid understanding of Editorial Policy and Media Law.
Demonstrable experience delivering content across online, social, radio and TV.
Proficiency in core production tools such as desktop editing, OpenMedia, VizRT and Wolftech.
Strong problem solving and communication skills in high pressure environments.
DESIRED CRITERIA
Experience shaping London focused stories based on a strong understanding of local audiences, as well as the ability to use the tools available to reach our underserved and opportunity audiences.
Experience of other formats including online, digital/social media and long form.
Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders to create opportunities and impact.
Experience mentoring junior journalists and supporting staff development.
Good understanding and appreciation of London's media landscape; the challenges and opportunities.
