Those huge small victories

We are the highest Ofsted-rated provider in the country for special education and care. Our teams are fulfilled by the idea of making even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate the little things.

For children with complex needs the level of care and education we provide must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us here at Witherslack Group. With our high staff-to-child ratio and in-house clinical teams, we’re proud to have won a reputation for excellence and market leading OFSTED ratings.

Get out what you put in

As a passionate and knowledgeable Health and Safety professional, you will play a key role in supporting the Witherslack Group to maintain safe, healthy, and compliant environments across all sites. Working within our Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Team and the Quality Assurance department, you'll help embed a proactive safety culture by providing expert guidance, training, and support to staff at all levels. You will contribute to the development and implementation of SHE policies, procedures, and training frameworks, and help uphold our ISO 45001 accreditation.

In this role, you'll act as a ‘Competent Person’ for health and safety, carrying out site visits, audits, and investigations to identify and manage potential hazards. You'll collaborate with colleagues across departments and within settings to help ensure our teams are competent and confident in managing risks and our training and policies are effective and fit for purpose. From accident investigations to internal forums and audits to delivering SHE projects; your input will directly influence the safety and wellbeing of everyone in the organisation. Ongoing professional development and sharing of best practice will be central to your personal and professional growth within the Group.

A degree or NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (or equivalent), with a strong understanding of health and safety legislation and the risk assessment process.

* Proven Experience in Health and Safety

Minimum of two years’ experience in a health and safety or equivalent role, including conducting audits or inspections and managing safety compliance across multiple sites.
