The Advanced Practitioner will formulate clinical decisions and patient specific care plans to manage acute and chronic illness as well as acute radiotherapy toxicity. They will support patients as identified by holistic needs assessment, initiating supportive interventions and referring to members of the multidisciplinary team as appropriate. They will exercise advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care. They will be involved in the development and review of care protocols and training for staff within this area of specialism.
Audit and monitoring of standards of patient care, using the results to influence practice, thereby continually improving evidence based practice and delivery of patient focused care.
Main duties of the job
The Advanced Practitioner in radiotherapy on treatment reviews will demonstrate highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in the management of radiotherapy treatment related toxicity. Working autonomously or in collaboration with the Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Radiotherapy Review or medical and nursing colleagues they will ensure patients are fully informed regarding their proposed management plan, provide appropriate information and support and liaise with relevant colleagues to ensure a seamless service for the patient. They will undertake clinical review of patients who are receiving or have received radiotherapy.

Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
1. Evidence of extensive postregistration clinical practice in Therapeutic Radiography
2. Evidence of continuing professional development.
3. Knowledge and experience of management of radiation induced toxicity
4. Experience in audit
5. Good understanding of MDT structure and function
6. Experience in clinical assessment
Desirable criteria
7. Experience as a Clinical Supervisor
Qualifications and Education
Essential criteria
8. BSc. / PGDip Therapeutic Radiography or DCR(T)
9. UK HCPC Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer
10. Evidence of post graduate work based learning and / or academic study
Desirable criteria
11. Masters level qualification in Radiotherapy or Health Studies
12. Clinical Examination skills qualification
