Overview
Would you like to work with one of the top performing school aged immunisation teams in the South East? Come and join us at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. This role is community based, supporting the clinical team at immunisation sessions.
We are working hard to ensure that all school aged children have access to immunisations to protect them from vaccine preventable diseases. The successful candidate will need to have good communication skills, be organised and be able to work autonomously as well as part of the team. A full driving licence and access to a car during the day with business insurance is required due to travel between schools. Training to administer nasal flu vaccine will be provided.
Main duties
* Preparation of equipment and resources prior to the immunisation session, and transporting them to the school; setting up and packing away afterwards.
* Attend school-based immunisation sessions and support immunisation nurses and young people on the day.
* Liaise with school staff on the day of immunisation to ensure young people are brought to be vaccinated in a timely manner.
* Ensure valid consent is received (self-consent using Frazer Guidelines).
* Be aware of confidential nature of the work and work within Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Children Code of Practice and Procedures.
* Liaise with partners to ensure vulnerable and home-schooled children are offered scheduled immunisations.
* Contact parents by phone and SMS/Email for catch-up sessions.
* Assist nursing staff with catch-up clinics and manage waiting areas to ensure vaccination occurs smoothly.
* Maintain stock/equipment levels and order additional stock as required.

Haleacre Unit, Amersham Hospital, Whielden Street, Amersham, HP7 0JD
Working pattern: Part-time, Flexible working, Term-time hours
Contract: Fixed term, 7 months
Salary and benefits
Band 3, £24,937 to £26,598 per year (pro rata)

Requirements
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car during the day with business insurance
* Willingness to be trained to administer nasal flu vaccine
* Good literacy and numeracy; Level 3 NVQ or equivalent
* Able to work on own or as part of a team; good interpersonal, verbal and written skills
* Experience in NHS/Social care/Voluntary sector is desirable
* Aware of diverse cultural issues and able to work with safeguarding considerations
Essential qualifications and experience
* Full UK driving licence, use of a car during the day and business insurance
* Ability to undertake training for role development
