The Business Manager is a senior leader who drives alignment of business functions across the leadership team and supports the General Manager with the effective and efficient execution of identified strategic projects for Lucy Electric Energy Services. Ultimately, the goal is to be a significant contributor to the overall success and growth of LE Energy Services by maintaining high standards of operational excellence and fostering a collaborative work environment

Lucy Electric is an international leader in intelligent secondary power distribution products and solutions, with features such as remote operation and monitoring. Linking energy generation to consumption, the business specialises in high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications.
The Role:
We're looking for an experienced and strategic Business Manager to join our team at Lucy Electric Energy Services. In this key leadership role, you'll act as the right hand to the General Manager, coordinating and aligning our internal functions—from finance and risk to operations—to drive our business forward. You'll be a central figure in ensuring we meet our strategic goals. This includes identifying and resolving operational bottlenecks, driving process improvements, and supporting the General Manager with the delivery of strategic projects that will enhance our profitability and contribute to the overall growth of the business. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong commercial mindset who can influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Job Context:
The ideal candidate brings proven commercial experience in electrical services, utilities, or infrastructure, with strong knowledge of substation installation and maintenance markets. They possess exceptional organisational and analytical skills, capable of managing multiple priorities, alongside robust financial, negotiation, and leadership abilities. With broad experience working across multi-functional teams and managing matrix relationships, they are well-equipped to drive commercial success and team development.
Job Dimensions:
The role will be based in Thame, Oxfordshire, at Lucy Electric’s manufacturing plant and office, with hybrid working option available. The role will report directly to the General Manager of Energy Services.
Key Accountabilities:
Strategic Planning & Operations:
Develop and implement strategic projects aligned with company objectives
Monitor and analyse business performance metrics and KPIs
Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost optimisation
Lead cross-functional strategic projects and initiatives to drive business growth
Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadershipTeam Leadership & Management:
Manage and mentor team members across various departments
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment
Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback
Coordinate with the leadership team to ensure alignment on goals and priorities
Support recruitment and onboarding of new team membersFinancial Management:
Oversee budget planning and financial forecasting
Monitor expenses and ensure adherence to approved budgets
Analyse financial data to identify trends and recommend actions
Work closely with the finance team on monthly and quarterly reporting
Contribute to investment opportunities and business casesProcess Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency
Establish and maintain standard operating procedures
Lead digital transformation initiatives where applicable
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies
Drive a continuous improvement culture throughout the organisationRisk Management:
Ensure robust contract governance and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
Track progress on strategic goals, identifying risks driving accountability

Working knowledge of Microsoft D365 Field Service Minimum:
Experience: You have a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a business management role, ideally within the electrical services, utilities, or infrastructure sectors. Experience with ERP systems (specifically Microsoft D365 Field Service) and business process automation is a plus.
Qualifications: A technical qualification or relevant experience in electrical power distribution is desirable. Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Six Sigma certification is also beneficial.
