Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Kingston, KT1 2AH
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week, shifts across Monday to Sunday
Shift Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off, 07:00‑19:00
Purpose of the Role
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of all mechanical systems on the client site. The role supports the delivery of statutory, legislative, and mandatory maintenance activities while ensuring equipment and building services remain fully functional. This includes completing planned preventative maintenance, responding to reactive issues, delivering minor new works, and supporting the wider engineering team to maintain high service standards and operational continuity for the client.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair mechanical faults within competence.
* Perform routine mechanical maintenance to regulatory and best‑practice standards.
* Carry out like‑for‑like replacements and minor new works.
* Complete risk assessments and work safely at all times.
* Support emergency call‑outs, including out‑of‑hours cover.
* Supervise specialist subcontractors and support apprentices.
* Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and work completed.
* Build positive working relationships with clients and colleagues.
* Stay up to date with legislation and industry best practice.
* Participate in agreed shift patterns.
* Legionella training (preferred).
Accountabilities
* Safe, compliant delivery of mechanical maintenance tasks.
* Effective execution of reactive and planned work to meet SLAs.
* Proper maintenance of tools, equipment, and PPE.
* Full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and industry regulations.
* Completion of required training and competency assessments.
Person Specification
* Completed Mechanical Apprenticeship.
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent (or mature route).
* Strong practical mechanical skills and problem‑solving ability.
* Experience working independently in technical maintenance.
* Competent in safe systems of work and H&S standards.
* IT literate (Microsoft Office & CMMS).
* Able to self‑manage workload and communicate effectively.
