We are looking to recruit a patient, warm, caring, and reliable Female Support Worker with a full, clean driving licence and own car for a lady in her thirties with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. The client lives in her own home in the Cardiff area with her husband, cat, and dog, and she enjoys a full and active lifestyle.
The role involves all personal and domestic care, as well as supporting the client to attend and participate in various activities, including going to the gym/boxing, and caring for her pets. The client also enjoys head painting and runs regular market stalls, so support with these activities will be required.
You must be registered with or working towards registration with Social Care Wales.
You must hold a recognised Health and Social Care qualification (NVQ Level 2 or a Diploma) OR have completed the All-Wales Induction Framework OR be willing to complete this within 6 months of starting if successful.
Competent IT skills are desirable.
Working hours:
* Day shifts – to be negotiated at interview
* Night shifts – to be negotiated at interview
* Occasional Sunday cover may be required
* Occasional night cover may be required
Responsibilities include:
* Supporting the client to exercise choice and control over their daily life, considering cognitive challenges
* Liaising with and supporting the family as needed
* Assisting with hygiene and personal care
* Supporting the client to access local amenities and community activities
* Following the individual care plan
* Maintaining accurate and confidential records
* Participating in manual handling procedures as specified
* Maintaining professional boundaries and following guidance from the case manager
Requirements:
* Full driving licence and own car are essential
* Respectful and dignified approach to care, acknowledging individual needs
* Previous experience working with clients with cerebral palsy and understanding of special educational needs
* NVQ / QCF Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
* Genuine interest in providing person-centred care
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Willingness to learn and develop
* Registered with or working towards registration with Social Care Wales
* Successful candidates will undergo an Enhanced DBS check and enroll in the DBS update service
