We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to join our team, specialising in supporting pupils with ASC and other associated needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating an inclusive learning environment, adapting curriculum content, and implementing individualized strategies to meet the diverse needs of our students.

Purpose of the Role:


To deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Humanities ( History, Geography, PSHE and Citizenship), lead the development of the Humanities curriculum (including PSHE and Citizenship) across the school, and act as a form tutor, supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of a tutor group. The role involves working with students with Special Educational Needs, including high-functioning autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning:

13. Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across Humanities, including PSHE and Citizenship, across Key Stages
14. Adapt teaching to meet the diverse needs of learners, including students with SEN
15. Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing regular feedback
16. Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning in line with school policy
17. Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities

Subject Leadership – Humanities (including PSHE and Citizenship):

18. Lead and develop the Humanities curriculum, including PSHE and Citizenship, across the school
19. Ensure schemes of work reflect a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum that supports personal development and life skills
20. Monitor standards of teaching and learning within Humanities and PSHE/Citizenship
21. Support colleagues with planning, resources, and best practice
22. Track pupil progress within the subject area and implement strategies for improvement
23. Ensure PSHE and Citizenship provision supports statutory guidance and the school’s ethos
24. Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities

Tutor Role:

25. Act as a form tutor, taking responsibility for a tutor group
26. Monitor attendance, punctuality, and wellbeing of students
27. Deliver tutor time activities, including PSHE, Citizenship, and personal development
28. Build positive relationships with students, supporting their personal and academic progress
29. Liaise with families regarding student progress, attendance, and wellbeing

Pastoral and Safeguarding Responsibilities:

30. Support students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs
31. Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures
32. Work closely with the safeguarding and pastoral teams
33. Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Wider Professional Duties:

34. Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips, enrichment, and events
35. Work collaboratively with colleagues, including support staff and senior leaders
36. Engage in CPD and professional development opportunities
37. Uphold the values and ethos of Clay Hill School

Person Specification (Summary):

38. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
39. Experience teaching Humanities, with the ability to deliver PSHE and Citizenship
40. Experience or strong interest in working with SEN students (particularly autism and SEMH)
41. Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
42. Ability to lead a subject area and support colleagues
43. Commitment to inclusive education, pupil wellbeing, and personal development
