This role supports the team overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors, ensuring the effective delivery of projects while maximising value for money. You will also help design and manage Pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long‑term partnership arrangements, ultimately contributing to a sustainable legacy for communities and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
 * Provide commercial governance support for contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
 * Set up and manage Pathfinder programmes that promote best practice and collaborative partnership arrangements.
 * Champion effective governance and commercial assurance across the Integrated Delivery Management teams and wider Project Management community.
 * Build excellent internal and external relationships, developing expertise in contractual and commercial interpretation.
 * Undertake training and participate in incident response duties as required by the Environment Agency.
Essential Education & Skills
 * A-Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification.
 * Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
 * Stakeholder management experience.
 * Strong data and document management skills.
 * Commercial acumen – understanding and analysing business situations, taking proportionate risks and delivering value for money.
 * Excellent organisational skills and ability to write minutes and draft reports.
 * Willingness to pursue Long‑Term Professional Qualifications (NEC training, CIPS, etc.) and confidence to seek development opportunities.
 * Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Education / Professional Qualifications
 * Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
 * Working towards status with a recognised professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
 * Formal training in contract management (e.g. NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
