Lead Our Expanding Production Bakery
The Oswin Project is seeking an experienced Head Baker to lead our new Baking Out facility in HMP Northumberland. We need a skilled production baker with strong bread expertise who can manage our operations while training and inspiring prisoners to build careers in baking.
Since opening our first Café and Bakery inside HMP Northumberland in 2020, we have grown year on year. Our new purpose-built Baking Out facility represents a significant expansion, equipped with commercial production equipment to meet the increasing demand for our baked goods. Our production bakery supplies our own enterprises, and a growing network of wholesale customers across Northumberland and the North East.
The Role
As Head Baker, you will take full ownership of our bakery production, working alongside our Assistant Baker to deliver consistent, high-quality baked goods at scale. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring extensive production bakery experience, particularly in bread production and our popular range of pies. You'll lead both our bread operations and our growing wholesale pie business.
What Makes You Right for This Role
You are an accomplished baker who thrives in production environments. You see the bigger picture of production bakery - managing workflows, maximising efficiency, and maintaining quality under pressure. You're hands-on when needed but can also step back to train others and improve processes.
Most importantly, you believe in the power of second chances and want to use your expertise to transform lives through meaningful employment and training.
Why Join Baking Out?
* Lead a brand-new, well-equipped production facility
* Make a genuine difference in prisoners' lives and futures
* Develop and expand a growing wholesale operation with a focus on pie & bread production
* Work with a supportive team committed to social change
* Opportunity to shape and grow a unique bakery enterprise
* Professional development and training opportunities
