About the job

Job summary

Ofgem is Great Britain's independent energy regulator. We're at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving towards Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.

We are seeking an additional Senior Service Designer who will act as an expert practitioner in supporting the delivery of government schemes aimed at achieving policy outcomes that contribute to Net Zero. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role, working in close collaboration with user-centred design colleagues and multidisciplinary digital delivery teams. As an influencer and mentor, the senior service designer will also help establish the service design practice within Ofgem, offering guidance, support, and mentorship to more junior designers.

In this role, you'll collaborate with Product Managers and Service Owners to develop design concepts and oversee their execution, leading projects of varying complexity. You'll support service design practice, contribute to the Ofgem User-Centred Design (UCD) community, and elevate service design understanding across the organisation. Your tasks include producing and maintaining design documents, guiding the design strategy for services, and ensuring smooth collaboration with cross-functional teams for effective project delivery. Additionally, you'll streamline UCD processes and facilitate a seamless transition to operational delivery.

Join us to be at the forefront of shaping the future of energy regulation and sustainability with newly created roles designed to enhance our in-house User Centred Design capabilities. As part of a wider network within Ofgem, you'll have the opportunity to work on high-profile Net Zero Projects, enjoying autonomy in your role while contributing to the development of the function and mentoring junior staff.

We offer extensive learning and development opportunities within the DDaT Profession, flexible hybrid working arrangements with one day a week remote work, and a friendly, collaborative environment. This is your chance to gain significant exposure to the GDS service standard and the energy sector, making a tangible impact on a carbon-neutral future.

At Ofgem, we pride ourselves on our inclusive culture that celebrates the diversity of our team, encouraging innovation and ensuring we effectively represent the interests of the consumers and communities we serve.
