Clinical Research Fellow in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

This is a unique opportunity to join a renowned Integrated Inflammatory bowel disease clinical and research unit at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This unit has national and international reputation for high quality personalised clinical careand high impact research programmes.
The post is available at advanced fellow/Registrar level and is available from September 2025. The post combines clinical IBD with research. You will be able to work in a well-functioning multidisciplinary team environment and receive exposure to complex IBD management, clinical and translational research and ability to network with leaders in IBD nationally and internationally. It is expected that part of research will be on a defined project .The post may give opportunity for the right to spent time with a collaborator institution in UK and Canada based on specific research project. This will be also suitable for Post-CCT Fellowship for suitable successful applicant. The post will be under the supervision of Professor Sebastian working within the IBD service in the department of gastroenterology.
Main duties of the job
Position is for 1 year in the first instance may be extend to 3 years subject to annual review depended upon satisfactory work and progress. It is essential for the applicants to have MRCP UK or equivalent, are on GMC register with licence to practice or are eligible for the same. The post may carry partial recognition for Higher Specialist Training.
The post will have clinical commitment up to four to six clinical sessions including IBD clinics and Endoscopy. The rest of sessions will be dedicated to IBD research.

Person Specification
Teaching Audit and Research
* Commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs and medical students
* Evidence of participation in audit
* Ability to extrapolate clinical research evidence to care for individual patients
* Experience of teaching/ training in clinical courses e.g. IMPACT Course, Faculty, ALS Instructor, ALERT Instructor
Management and Administration Experience
* Ability to work within management structures
* Ability to organise, prioritise and manage high intensity workload
* Ability to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/ delivery
Clinical Experience
* Ability to offer sound clinical opinion on range of acute medical conditions
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
* Experience in management of IBD
* Post registration training in Gastroenterology at Registrar level
Qualifications & Training
* MRCP (UK) or equivalent
* Valid ALS certificate
* Postgraduate qualification in Education or significant experience in post graduate training
Professional Registration
* oFull Registration with the GMC and a license to practise
