DEA is seeking a driven and operationally focused leader as Head of Flight Operations to direct all aspects of our Flight Operations Department, within a fully compliant and just culture. Working for the Head of Delivery, while reporting directly to the Accountable Manager, this role is vital to ensure efficient flight operations across our decentralized activities. Key Responsibilities: Lead the expanding Flight Operations Department of pilots and supporting staff Foster a strong and just safety culture, keeping senior leadership informed of key issues Oversee the content of the Operations Manual, ensuring regulatory compliance for both CAA and EASA, while maximizing operational effectiveness Ensure crew readiness, training standards, and professional performance Liaise with regulators and internal departments to ensure alignment and compliance Manage aerodrome and aircraft performance data, flight briefings, MEL, loading instructions, and other technical documentation Ensure compliance with information security (ISO27001) and dangerous goods regulations Issue crew notices, updates to operational procedures, and emergency response coordination when required Maintain oversight of operating locations and ensure performance through regular reviews and standards checks Qualifications & Experience: To be considered for the role of the Head of Flight Operations, the candidate must have the following qualifications and experience: Demonstrate the ability to obtain approval from the CAA as the Nominated Person Flight Operations Minimum 5 years of experience as a pilot in a Flight Operations construct 1000 hours P1 | 100 hours MEP | 200 hours instrument flying time Held a Type Rating for King Air or similar type Valid CPL or ATPL and IR (single pilot) Skills & Competencies: Proven leadership and line management experience Ability to function within a team environment, with strong inter-personal skills Thorough knowledge of aviation regulations, SMS, and CMS Proven decision-making and problem-solving abilities Strong verbal and written communications Demonstrable experience of profit and loss responsibility, and cost-control At ease with uncertainty, complexity and change This is a full-time position, combining office based responsibilities with occasional deployments on our operating lines. When deployed, assignments may last up to three weeks at a time. When not deployed, your primary place of work will be from our offices at Retford, Gamston Airport.
