We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Specialist Nurse to shape, develop, and specialize in older peoples mental health within the mental health team. The role involves working across HMP Millsike, a new Category C men's prison, and HMP Full Sutton, a Category A men's prison, near York.
Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust was recently awarded the Mental Health Service contract to start delivering services at HMP Millsike in April 2025.
This is a unique opportunity to join a new mental health team at a new prison site.
Your clinical expertise will support mental health service delivery, pathway development, quality care, and clinical governance. The role includes developing and delivering mental health care pathways for older people.
You should have extensive experience working in prison or forensic services, a positive and compassionate attitude towards service users, and awareness of clinical challenges in secure environments. The role demands high standards of professional practice and excellent communication and relationship skills.

The post requires innovation, flexibility, and engagement with clients with complex needs. The post holder must be committed to equal opportunities and reflect the trust's values of Responsibility, Respect, and Compassion.
Alongside senior clinical staff, the nurse will lead professional development and ensure high standards of nursing practice.
We encourage candidates to contact us for an informal discussion.
