Are you a Software & Controls Engineer or a Automation & Controls Engineer, with a passion for improving plant performance?
Due to retirement, we have an opportunity for an experienced Software and Controls Engineer. Working in a day-based role as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you’ll be driven and skilled at both delivering automation improvement solutions and in finding and rectifying faults on control systems.
Here at our Wakefield Bakery in North Yorkshire, we are continuing to invest in our future with exciting projects utilising the latest automation and control technologies.
The Recipe
Working collaboratively with the current Software and Controls Engineer and the broader engineering team. You’ll be responsible for automation and controls onsite, maintaining all software, hardware infrastructure and control systems. You’ll also identify and complete continuous improvement projects to increase plant efficiency, reduce downtime and save energy and associated costs.
As a key member of the engineering department, you’ll be encouraged and supported to foster new ideas and perspectives whilst driving change at pace. We promote a culture of continuous improvement whilst working on a changing approach to reliability centred maintenance in a highly automated production facility.
Essential Ingredients
This is a day-based role working Monday to Friday.
You’ll have a strong drive to identify opportunities for equipment improvement using plant-based automation and related solutions to help improve efficiency and performance.
1. Experience in fault finding and maintaining existing control systems, preferably with Allen Bradley
2. Experience of software development and common programming languages including Ladder Logic.
3. Knowledge of communication protocol control networks
4. Strong electrical knowledge and understanding of control related systems
5. Knowledge and experience of project implementation preferably in a manufacturing environment.
6. Knowledge and experience of safety related parts of control systems/
7. H&S/Food Safety systems & legislation knowledge e.g. PUWER, IOSH – able to ensure a safe working environment.
8. Experience of improvements resulting in a reduction of breakdowns or increased efficiency
9. Experience of working in a Manufacturing environment - preferable
