31 Hours per week, 12 months fixed term/secondment opportunity
The role is a band 3 HCA within a busy Ophthalmology department, working over 5 days with opportunities to work additional clinics. We run several clinics including medical retina, glaucoma, cataract, laser, intravitreal injection, general, and emergency clinics.
Main duties of the job
As an HCA, you will learn to check patients' visual acuity, chaperone doctors' clinics, perform clinical observations, prepare clinic notes, and learn to perform visual fields and OCT scans.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Care Certificate
* Completion of a clinical skills competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake.
* GCSE Maths & English or qualified to equivalent Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake.
Experience
* At least 6 months of care experience working in a health or social care setting.

Knowledge and Awareness
* Understanding of confidentiality and information governance.
* Knowledge of health and safety protocols.
* Knowledge of clinical patient observations.

* Knowledge of current healthcare issues.
