Job Description – Senior Theatre Practitioner Salary: £38,682 – £40,823 per annum (higher negotiable with SFA qualification) Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours) or part-time options available Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Theatre Practitioner to deliver high standards of perioperative care within a patient-focused environment. This role involves planning and coordinating theatre activities, ensuring safe clinical practice, and supporting a collaborative surgical team. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and facilitate theatre lists effectively Deliver high-quality perioperative care in line with clinical standards and protocols Ensure all patient care areas are safe, clean, and fit for purpose Accurately record and manage patient information using IT systems Maintain safe handling, storage, and administration of medications and controlled drugs Support and promote a positive, patient-centred care approach Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth theatre operations Uphold high standards of professionalism, ethics, and clinical governance Skills & Experience Required Registered Nurse (NMC) or HCPC-registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Significant post-registration experience within theatre settings Strong experience as a Scrub Practitioner across a range of surgical specialties SFA (Surgical First Assistant) qualification desirable (not essential) Post-registration education in a relevant specialty, degree in healthcare, or equivalent experience (5 years) Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills Strong communication and interpersonal abilities Patient-centred approach with a commitment to high-quality care Basic IT skills (e.g., MS Outlook, web-based systems) What’s on Offer Competitive salary with potential enhancement for SFA-qualified candidates Generous annual leave plus bank holidays Employer pension contributions Professional development and training opportunities Supportive and collaborative working environment Additional benefits including healthcare schemes, wellbeing support, and staff discounts
