Progress Teachers are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Pastoral Assistant to provide impactful and tailored support to a mainstream Leicester Secondary School. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and personal development of students, ensuring they receive the highest standard of pastoral care. This is a rewarding and varied role, where you will work closely with students, teachers, and senior staff to foster a positive and inclusive school environment.
Responsibilities:
* Provide support to students in areas such as behavior management, emotional support, and academic guidance.
* Assist with the implementation of school policies related to student welfare, behaviour, and attendance.
* Act as a first point of contact for students seeking advice, guidance, or support.
* Work with the pastoral team to monitor and improve the attendance and punctuality of students.
* Support students experiencing personal or social difficulties, offering a confidential and supportive environment.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to promote student welfare.
* Lead small group interventions, offering support in areas such as social skills and emotional resilience.
* Assist with the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities and school events.
* Contribute to the overall improvement of student engagement and well-being across the school.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* A minimum of a GCSE in English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
* Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a pastoral, educational, or support role.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* A good understanding of child development and the challenges students face in a secondary school setting.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
* An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required.
Desirable Skills:
* Previous experience in a secondary school environment.
* Knowledge of safeguarding policies and practices.
* First aid qualification.
* Experience working with students with additional needs, including SEN.
