Overview
This is a full-time locum consultant appointment for a fixed term of 12 months in response to the resignation of previous staff. The successful applicant would join a team of 19 Consultants. The post has a primary interest in breast, upper gastrointestinal (Upper GI) and hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) cancers, though other interests may be accommodated. The post would be well suited to a medical oncologist, although applications from clinical oncologists are welcome. The post holder will join a team including three clinical oncologists, one medical oncologist and a nurse consultant in the Breast Team, as well as one Upper GI/HPB Clinical Oncologist.
Norfolk and Norwich specifically is a great place to live with access to cultural activities, the North Norfolk coast, the Norfolk Broads National Park, good schools and a university with research and teaching links. The city is about 2 hours by train from central London.

Key responsibilities
The appointee will principally be part of the Breast, Upper GI and HPB (or other as agreed) MDTs, with responsibility for delivering SACT (+/- Radiotherapy) at NNUH. Due to the department\s expertise and internal reorganisation, applicants with an interest in other tumor sites are strongly encouraged to apply. Specific duties include:
* See approximately 300 new patients annually.
* Participate in an approximately 1:13 on-call rota.
* Contribute to the Trust\s Clinical Governance programme, including clinical audits, quality improvement, guidelines/pathways development, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
* Be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and be expected to serve on this committee.
* Support the delivery of a high-quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service and model professional behaviour in line with NNUH\s PRIDE values (People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence) and foster an inclusive culture.
Requirements and expectations
The post holder will be expected to participate in the MDTs and contribute to patient care across the designated cancer sites. The appointee should demonstrate flexibility for internal reorganisation and contribute to academic and teaching opportunities as applicable. The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.
