Overview

Research Associate / Fellow in Power Electronics and Control (FTC) – University of Nottingham


Responsibilities

* Lead and deliver individual and collaborative research in the area of integrated electric motor drive technologies and contribute to the direction of research programmes in the Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Research Institute in the Faculty of Engineering.
* Pursue a research plan in developing innovative modular power converter topologies and control for integrated motor drives, developing new concepts and ideas. Where appropriate, support you to create and submit innovative research development proposals and funding bids.


Qualifications / Requirements

* significant prior experience of power semiconductor switching converters such as oscilloscopes
* programming MicroSemi FPGAs in the Libero environment
* low level programming of embedded C++ in Infineon Tricore based microcontrollers
* power converter topologies

They will also possess a consistent track record of published research in reviewed publications.

You will be a dynamic self-starter, exceptionally well-organised and have a positive attitude. Working with academics, researchers and PhD students in managing and conducting research activities across the programme, you should have experience of working collaboratively on projects with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally, sometimes on challenging and complex multidisciplinary issues. Prior direct experience of successful PhD student co-supervision/mentoring is desirable.


Contract and Location

This is a fixed term full time post funded to 31 December 2028. There may be options to extend.
