About the opportunity
Energy Programmes is one of our newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles, we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and on-time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Amentum is currently recruiting a Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for clarifying deliverables necessary for construction, with the support of the Back Office who conducted studies (EPR E, EDVANCE, CNEPE). Key responsibilities include:
1. Gathering input data, analyzing/updating hypothesis notes and loading description reports
2. Performing mechanical stresses analyses, equipment anchorages capability, valve calculations, and proposing modifications if sizing criteria are not met
3. Closing open points and comments
4. Assessing and resolving technical issues during manufacturing, construction, and erection
5. Assessing and integrating modifications from stakeholders after package handovers to JDO
6. Performing hand calculations and running anchorages macros to assess feasibility of modifications
7. Checking calculation notes and guide drawings subcontracted to external companies
8. Proposing improvements for unfinished studies
9. Maintaining Edvance’s QA procedures in design delivery
10. Collaborating with CAD designers in preparing design drawings
11. Leading technical meetings with suppliers and support entities
Qualifications
* Degree in Science or Mechanical Engineering
* Experience in Civil Work and Steel Structures Design and Construction
* Knowledge of EUROCODE, RCC-M code (preferred)
* Experience working in a multicultural environment
* Knowledge of HPC project or previous EPR studies is advantageous
* Understanding of CI & BoP buildings and specifics is a plus
* Experience managing transverse technical topics
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational, writing, and communication skills in English
* Ability to prioritize, manage interfaces, and meet deadlines
