Job Description:
Nixor is seeking Principal/Lead Architects with Life Insurance/Assurance industry knowledge to join a newly formed architecture team for the UK's largest Mutual Pensions company. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of their technology landscape by transitioning from legacy architecture to a modern, microservices-based architecture.
About the Role
As a Lead Architect, you will own your domain, overseeing applications, cloud infrastructure, and services. You will be part of a new team tasked with transforming a legacy "spaghetti" architecture into a modern microservices architecture, with full support and funding.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical oversight across your domain
* Collaborate with the board and senior stakeholders
* Lead the transition from monolithic to microservices architecture
* Define and implement standards for development, security, and observability
* Mentor junior architects and technical teams
* Act as the technical point of contact for your business unit
Why Join?
The Director of Architecture joined 6 months ago for the opportunity to make a significant impact and build a high-performing architectural team with full support.
Additional benefits include:
* A large change budget with access to significant resources
* Minimal internal politics, with stakeholder alignment already achieved
* Focus on delivering user-centric designs from day one
We’re seeking experienced Architects with:
* A strong background in solutions architecture (Applications, Cloud, Security)
* Experience modernizing legacy systems into microservices
* Deep knowledge of design patterns, cloud infrastructure, and security
* Prior experience in the Insurance Industry, ideally Life Insurance
* Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
This is a hands-on leadership role combining strategic influence with technical contribution, working alongside Business Architects to guide your domain's technical direction.
