Ampere Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a global leader in advanced electronics solutions, seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to join their highly skilled technical team. This role is ideal for an engineer passionate about root cause analysis, product reliability, and continuous improvement across complex electro‑mechanical systems.
About the Role
As a Failure Analysis Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in investigating product failures and driving corrective actions that enhance quality and reliability. Working closely with cross‑functional teams — including Design, Reliability, and Manufacturing — you’ll take ownership of detailed failure investigations from start to finish, ensuring all findings are documented, communicated, and acted upon.
Key Responsibilities
 * Conduct visual, electrical, mechanical, and other (destructive and non‑destructive) testing to isolate and analyse failure modes
 * Identify, verify, and document root causes of failures across electronic components, PCBs, and assemblies
 * Maintain high integrity of failure data and ensure accurate recording of conditions and symptoms
 * Analyse trends in failure data to support proactive quality improvements
 * Lead and support corrective action processes for recurring or simple failures
 * Produce clear, concise, and technically sound Failure Analysis reports for internal and external stakeholders
Skills & Experience Required
 * Strong knowledge of electronic circuits, PCB design, and manufacturing processes
 * Solid understanding of materials science and the physical behaviour of engineering materials
 * Hands‑on experience with diagnostic and analysis tools such as SEM, EDX, X‑ray, and optical microscopy
 * Background in statistical yield analysis and root‑cause problem solving
 * Excellent communication skills with the ability to document and present findings effectively
Qualifications
 * Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related discipline (essential)
 * 2–3 years’ experience in Failure Analysis, Reliability, or Product Engineering (essential)
 * Six Sigma or equivalent problem‑solving certification (advantageous)
 * Prior experience analysing complex electro‑mechanical assemblies (desirable)
