Job Overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as a Band 6 Physiotherapist, within the Neuro outpatient Physio department. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your Neuro skills within the physiotherapy department. Working across outpatient clinics in Centre (Conwy and Denbighshire), you will be working alongside Clinical Specialist and Advanced practice neuro specialists, as well as the wider Neuro Multi-disciplinary team. The post offers a band 6 training programme and access to the monthly neuro physio in service training programme.

The physiotherapy service in BCUHB offers a whole career pathway to Band 8A as an advanced clinical practitioner. Service improvement and development is encouraged and all staff have access to regular supervision and training.

Excellent support, supervision and in-house training provided.

Full time, part time and job share considered.

Main duties of the job

To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in their care.

To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi pathologies; use developed clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition. Obtain clinical support and guidance from senior physiotherapists; clinical specialists and advanced practitioners as required.

Formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills e.g. manual physiotherapy techniques, patient education, exercise classes, electrotherapy techniques and other alternative options.

To take delegated responsibility from the Team Leader or Senior Physiotherapist for managing patients with particular conditions and be responsible for providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment plans for patients with these conditions.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

* Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registration

Desirable criteria

* Membership of appropriate professional post-graduate training body
* Relevant Special/Clinical interest group membership
* Clinical educators course

Experience

Essential criteria

* Significant Post Registration Experience
* Evidence of core rotations

Desirable criteria

* Experience of contribution to CNG or working parties
* Experience in the relevant speciality
* Experience of working in an NHS environment as physiotherapist and MDT/ multi-agency working where relevant

Skills

Essential criteria

* Excellent clinical reasoning skills in physiotherapy
* Ability to work autonomously within clinical area
* Effective communication skills
* Able to lead and participate in team working and training
* Able to be self-motivated and motivate others within team
* Proven organisational skills including prioritisation and delegation

Desirable criteria

* Actively involved in research and contribution to evidence-based practice
* Good teaching and supervisory skills
* Research skills
* Involvement in staff appraisal / PADR

Personal Qualities

* Physically fit to comply with the health board’s Manual Handling Guidelines
* Able to work at intense levels of concentration during most of the working day
* Able to meet the 7 day job planning and delivery requirements of the post
* Able to work within a stressful and unpredictable environment
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post

* Good knowledge of complex conditions
* Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology underlying complex pathology
* Good working knowledge of all areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management.
