Job Description
We are currently seeking a Site / Section Engineer to work for a major Civil Contractor who operates across the UK, specializing in various Civil engineering sectors of differing values. The role will be based near Oxford on a Highways project, with a good duration and potential for further regional work. Our client is looking for someone to join them on this prestigious project, offering future progression and development within the industry.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working on large civils schemes, with experience in heavy civils, tunnelling, earthworks, highways, or rail infrastructure.
Responsibilities as Section Engineer:
1. Act as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople, and operatives within your area of responsibility.
2. Develop safe systems of work, method statements, and quality documentation such as ITPs and QRPs.
3. Produce, monitor, and control budgets for sections of work scope.
4. Ensure all materials used and work performed comply with specifications.
5. Oversee the selection and requisition of materials.
6. Manage, monitor, and interpret contract design documents.
7. Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce involved in the project.
8. Attend regular progress meetings to inform the wider team.
9. Carry out day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force, junior site engineers, and subcontractors.
10. Plan work and organize plant and site facilities to meet deadlines.
11. Oversee quality control and health and safety matters on site.
12. Prepare reports as required.
13. Resolve unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
Required Qualifications / Expertise:
* MEng/BEng/Foundation Degree/BTEC Degree in Civil Engineering.
* CSCS certification.
