REQUIREMENTS:
1. Proven work experience as a Hiab Lorry Driver.
2. Extensive knowledge of applicable lorry driving rules and regulations.
3. No recent moving or driving violations.
4. Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc).
5. Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations.
6. Valid Lorry Driving Licence.
7. Valid Hiab Operators Certificate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be required to deliver and off-load large pieces of equipment in a safe, efficient and timely manner; your responsibilities include the following:
1. To work in a safe manner and always consider the safety of yourself, your colleagues and the general public.
2. To inform management of any health or eyesight condition that affects driving ability and to inform DVLA of reportable medical conditions that affect driving entitlement.
3. To inform management of any fatigue or sleep related issues.
4. To ensure that PPE footwear, gloves and HiViz garments are worn at ALL times.
5. To comply with the requirements of FORS SILVER Accreditation.
6. To comply with the requirements of the Highway Code at all times.
7. To comply with Working Time and Driver Hours requirements.
8. To ensure that engine-idling is minimised to reduce fuel waste and unnecessary emissions.
9. To ensure that seat belts are worn by anyone travelling in the cab.
10. To ensure that distractions (such as smoking, eating and drinking) do not occur whilst driving.
11. To ensure that there is no unlawful use of hand-held mobile phones or hand-held communication devices whilst driving.
12. To ignore any incoming calls until the vehicle has stopped and is safely parked.
13. To be constantly aware of the threats from criminals and terrorists.
14. To ensure that vehicles are locked at all times and that the keys are kept in your pocket whenever you leave the vehicle.
15. To comply with ALL Risk Assessments and Method Statements issued to you.
16. To carry out Daily Walkaroud Checks before taking the vehicle on the road; ensuring that all defects are reported.
17. To ensure that your vehicle is loaded safely and that the load is adequately secured before taking the vehicle on the road.
18. To ensure that your vehicle carrying capacity is not exceeded.
19. To be aware of the overall vehicle height at all times.
20. To continually monitor the operation of the lorry mounted crane to identify any potential safety issues.
21. To ensure that your load is safely sheeted whenever the weather forecast dictates.
22. Ensuring that work at height is avoided wherever possible.
23. To ensure that the lorry bed barrier system is always in place.
24. To ensure that a ladder is ALWAYS used to access and egress the lorry bed.
25. To understand and minimise the risk to Vulnerable Road Users (including pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders).
26. Reporting any matters that affect their ability to drive safely.
