What does the role involve?
As a .NET Developer with a passion for AI, you will play a key role within the Technology Engineering team in CIO by designing, building, andmaintainingmodern .NET applications while contributing to the organisation’s growing AI capabilities. Your primary focus will be delivering robust, scalable .NET solutions, with opportunities to explore how emerging AI technologies can enhance our systems and processes.
You will collaborate with senior engineers andcross functionalteams to understand business needs,identifyautomation opportunities, and support the introduction of AIcapabilitiesinto ourbusiness processes. This role offers room to grow yourexpertisein both software engineering and AI, within a supportive, innovative, andforward thinkingenvironment.
Hybrid working – 1 day per week on-site (Leicester or Bexhill offices)
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and maintain scalable, high‑availability applications using C#/.NET.
* Build RESTful APIs and microservices that integrate across the organisation.
* Work closely with business and product teams to understand requirements and deliver quality solutions.
* Support the integration of AI tools, components, and services into .NET applications.
* Help evaluate new technologies, including AI platforms and engineering tools.
* Participate in Communities of Practice and internal knowledge‑sharing sessions.
* Collaborate with Engineering and Platform teams to ensure data pipelines and infrastructure support .NET and AI workloads.
* Contribute to cultural initiatives that encourage engineering excellence, AI literacy, and innovation. and innovation.

Skills we would love you to have:
* Strong experience in C# and .NET (including .NET Core 8/10+).
* Proven background in building backend services, APIs, and microservices.
* Understanding of APIs, containers, and cloud services, with a focus on Azure.
* Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD practices.
* Strongproblem solvingability and willingness to learn.
* Experience working in agile environments andcross functionalteams.
* Interest in AI technologiesandemerging AI engineering practices.
Desirable
* Exposure to large language models (LLMs), generative AI, or Azure AI capabilities such as Azure OpenAI or Foundry.
* Familiarity with data engineering concepts, vector databases, orretrieval augmentedgeneration (RAG).
* Familiarity with responsible AI principles and data privacy considerations.
* Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated sectors.
* Knowledge ofadditionalAzure services such as Application Insights or App Configuration.
* Understanding of DevOps practices and automated testing frameworks (e.g.,xUnit,Moq).
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
