Payroll OfficerLocation: AntrimPay Rate: £18.85 per hourHours: 37 (Mon-Fri) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Payroll Officer to join the Finance team at Antrim Civic Centre. The successful candidate will help deliver an efficient, accurate and confidential payroll and pensions service for Council employees, Elected Members and other appointed officers.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess payroll and expenses in line with statutory, regulatory and Council requirementsPrepare, check and input payroll data including salaries, overtime, statutory payments and deductionsMaintain accurate employee payroll and pension recordsAdminister pension processes including auto-enrolment, retirements and transfersEnsure payroll costs and third-party payments are processed accuratelyResolve payroll queries professionally and efficientlySupport payroll system updates, reporting and continuous improvement initiativesAssist with statutory returns and compliance with HMRC and pension regulationsEssential CriteriaApplicants must have:A BTEC National Certificate in Business Related Studies (or equivalent qualification)ORA minimum of 2 years' relevant payroll experience in a computerised payroll environmentANDExperience in payroll processing, taxation, National Insurance and pension administrationA high degree of accuracy and attention to detailExperience working effectively within a small team environment to meet payroll deadlinesGood keyboard and data input skillsExperience using an integrated Personnel/Payroll Information SystemDesirable CriteriaExperience within Local Government payrollThorough knowledge of payroll legislation and proceduresKnowledge of Local Government Terms and ConditionsProficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsTo be shortlisted for this role all applicants MUST meet the essential criteria.
