Priory The Birches is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team. This is a full‑time role.
£12.60 per hour plus £35 per sleep in
Shifts: 3 × 12‑hour shifts per week 08:00‑20:00 plus 1 sleep‑in shift 10:00‑22:00.
Occupational requirement: Only male workers holding a Full UK Manual Driving Licence.

The Birches is located in Chesterfield in Derbyshire. The home provides residential support for seven people with mental health needs. We are situated on a residential street just outside the town centre. Our team are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the people we support, helping them to achieve positive outcomes. We want to help each person we care for to have a healthy, happy, and independent life, within a safe and welcoming home.


What you’ll be doing

We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day‑to‑day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. Your positive attitude and passion for providing high‑quality care and support will be your key strengths, and you will help people reach their potential through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

* Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and preparation of food
* Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
* Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
* Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well‑being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
* Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists, Learning Disability teams and CMHT
* Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth

Qualifications and Skills

* Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
* Empathy, understanding and patience
* Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
* Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures
* The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
* Competent in verbal and written English
* A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential

Disclosure
