Overview

We are looking for a new Head of Logistics, based within the HQ Senior Leadership Team on Anglesey. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and wide-ranging workforce, delivering a highly valued and continuous training output into Defence. The role is advertised at 37 hours per week.

We support flexible working and recognise the benefits of face-to-face collaboration. There is an expectation to be in the office at least 60% of the time (about three days per week). The role sits within the Army Adventurous Training Group, delivering Leadership and Resilience Training to the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force, with the Joint Service Mountain Training Centre operating across Wings in North Wales, Northern England, the West Highlands, Northern Ireland and Bavaria.

The Head of Logistics position is based within the Joint Service Mountain Training Centre and will work from Anglesey as part of the HQ Senior Leadership Team. The post is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Responsibilities

* Lead the management of all material procurement and accounting, and act as Unit Health, Safety and Environment Advisor, Site Estate Representative, Transport Manager and Unit Contracts Officer.
* Lead a dispersed team of Logistics professionals located across all sites.
* Oversee facilities management and estate provision, and lead infrastructure provision for training delivery.
* Drive continuous improvement of equipment and infrastructure to support Defence training and maintain high training quality.
* Focus on sustainability in line with Defence objectives to improve facilities and operate more sustainably.
* Travel regularly between dispersed sites (Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands, Lake District and Bavaria).
* Line management responsibility for a team of seven.
* Hold roles as Unit Safety and Environmental Advisor (USA), Site Estate Representative (SER) and Contracts Officer, and act as Principal Logistics staff officer responsible for reports and material accounts.
* Lead on equipment procurement, Defence transport management and financial resource planning.
* Undertake the All Arms Quartermaster Course within six months of appointment if not already held.


Qualifications and Experience

* Essential: Cat B UK Driving Licence (must be able to self-drive between dispersed unit locations).
* Essential: NEBOSH National/NGC Level 3 (or the military equivalent: All Arms Unit Safety Advisor).
* Essential: IT literate, proficient in the full Microsoft Office suite and capable of virtual working.
* Desirable: Bespoke short courses in Contracts, Purchasing & Finance, fleet management, logistics software and environmental management; COSHH and DSEAR knowledge; Defence Transport Manager experience; knowledge of MOD environment.
* Experience: Experience operating within a senior leadership team and in a managerial logistics role covering procurement, fleet management and HS&E; familiarity with contract management and financial budget planning.

* Interviews/tests: Applicants may be required to complete online numerical and verbal tests (Civil Service tests); a banked score may be used for multiple vacancies. Civil Service Judgement Test results are banked for six months where applicable.

If invited to test, you must complete the tests before submitting the remainder of the application. * Test administration: Internet access is required for the duration of the test and the tests are not timed; they adapt to your responses.
