We're looking for an Interim Manufacturing Director to lead from the front, embedding control, structure, and a culture of performance within a large, complex production environment. You'll be responsible for delivering day-to-day manufacturing excellence across multiple lines while ensuring people leadership, process discipline, and operational efficiency are second to none. What You'll Do: Take ownership of daily production across a large-scale, high-volume site, ensuring quality, output, and efficiency targets are consistently achieved. Introduce clear performance metrics and structured routines to unlock bottlenecks, optimise labour deployment, and improve throughput. Lead from the shop floor — this is not a desk-based leadership role. You'll need hands-on production management experience across a large-scale workforce (500 employees). Instil a high-performance culture with strong discipline, standards, and accountability across all levels of the production team. Coach, mentor, and develop senior managers and frontline leaders to drive ownership, engagement, and continuous improvement throughout the operation. Champion and embed continuous improvement (CI) methodologies to streamline processes, improve first-time-right quality, and reduce waste. Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Materials teams to ensure seamless alignment across all production inputs and outputs. What You Bring: Significant senior leadership experience in high-volume manufacturing, ideally in fast-moving or complex environments. A proven ability to embed structured processes, operational rigour, and team accountability at scale. Deep understanding of lean tools, process optimisation, and efficiency improvement. A motivating leadership style with a hands-on approach — visible on the shop floor and credible at every level. Demonstrable experience of delivering measurable change and performance gains. Familiarity with ERP system rollouts or optimisation in a production setting is a plus.
