Assistant Head Chef – The Duke of Edinburgh, Barrow-in-Furness
40–50 hours per week | Equivalent to £32,000–£40,000 per annum | 28 days holiday
The Duke is one of Barrow's busiest hotels – 51 bedrooms, a lively bar and a reputation for excellent food. We're looking for an Assistant Head Chef to join the team and help drive the kitchen forward.
This is the perfect role if you're an experienced Chef de Partie or Sous Chef ready for your next challenge. You'll be stepping into a big, busy kitchen with plenty of variety – from hotel breakfasts to working lunches, evening suppers and private events. And with the festive season ahead, you'll get hands-on experience running a kitchen through one of the most exciting (and busiest) times of year.
What you'll be doing...
* Working closely with the Head Chef to deliver menus across breakfast, lunch, supper and events.
* Taking the lead on shifts, running service smoothly in the Head Chef's absence.
* Helping to train and develop the kitchen team, building confidence and consistency.
* Taking on responsibility for rotas, stock and kitchen organisation as you grow into the role.
* Cooking alongside your team every day, ensuring standards are met across every plate.
* Playing your part in delivering a fantastic festive season – from Christmas dinners to party nights.
