Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Theatre Directorate are seeking a self‑motivated, dynamic and assertive Band 6 Deputy Team Leader for the General Surgery Theatre department.
Main duties of the job
This post is a band 6 permanent position at The Royal Gwent Hospital and will work alongside the Band 7 in General surgery. The successful candidate will work closely with the team leader to ensure that ABUHB are providing an efficient and effective service for patients undergoing elective surgical procedures and to provide safe cross site cover. They will also be expected to participate in the theatre coordinators rota.
The candidate must hold first level RN /ODP registration and hold a post graduate qualification in a relevant degree. It is essential to this role to be able to lead a team and have insight into team structure, dynamics and development. The ideal candidate will have substantial theatre experience in the clinical environment and be a highly motivated person with good communication and leadership skills. You will be expected to support the Senior Practitioner/Nurse and Directorate Manager in development of the theatre team to support ABUHB in providing safe, quality patient care whilst also meeting the requirements of clinical futures.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Experience
* Significant experience as Band 5 in a scrub role
* Evidence of shift/Team leading experience.
* Evidence of further study and development.
* Able to demonstrate an active teaching role in current post
* Can demonstrate expertise within other theatre specialities
* Can demonstrate a contribution to innovative practice or change management
Qualifications & Knowledge
* Ability to demonstrate Professional knowledge and practical skills gained through experience
