Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a supportive and forward-thinking school in the Corby area, seeking a committed SEMH Support Assistant to work with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
The Role:
1. Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs, both 1:1 and in small groups
2. Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement in learning
3. Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
4. Assist teachers in creating a structured, calm, and inclusive classroom environment
5. Work closely with SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate:
6. Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or mental health needs
7. A calm, resilient, and patient approach
8. Strong communication and de-escalation skills
9. Backgrounds in youth work, care, psychology, or education are highly desirable
10. A genuine desire to make a positive impact in a school setting
