Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager within SSE North Scotland to lead teams installing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 11kV to 132kV. The role focuses on delivering safe, profitable, timely, high-quality, and fit-for-purpose networks that meet customer needs and promote the company's reputation.
The Project Manager will oversee their own projects and supervise staff managing multiple electrical network projects concurrently. These projects may include installing ground-mounted and structure-mounted power system components, cable systems, switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels, and related equipment in substations operating at up to 132kV.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading multiple project managers and teams, reporting to the Operations Manager, to build confidence and promote business growth.
* Providing leadership, guidance, and support to project teams and customers, ensuring professional standards.
* Ensuring health and safety compliance, including undertaking site supervisor roles as per CDM regulations, managing contractors and subcontractors.
* Managing multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing tasks, and developing team members through regular appraisals.
* Controlling resources such as materials, equipment, and labor for ongoing projects.
* Maintaining good commercial awareness, managing valuations, and ensuring project documentation and records are accurate and up-to-date.
Candidate requirements:
* HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Operational knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
* Site safety passport and experience working on CDM sites.
* SSSTS or SMSTS certification is desirable.
* Authorization to receive and cancel PTW from SSE DNO or equivalent.
