Overview
Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is an independent local charity and a member of the national Age UK network. We are committed to delivering the network’s shared strategy and supporting local older people to Change the Way we Age.
We have a robust governance structure overseen by an active, highly skilled Trustee Board that brings a range of expertise to support our Chief Executive and Senior Management Team. We are seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive to lead the senior management team, provide leadership, develop and implement strategic and operational plans, lead income generation, partnerships, influencing and business development, and act as an effective advocate for the charity and its beneficiaries.
Key responsibilities
* Support and advise the Chair and Board of Trustees in setting the vision, strategy and business planning and implementing agreed decisions
* Create an organisation able to support its communities with easily accessible support
* Create and sustain effective multi-channel, multi-purpose income generation
* Lead on organisational change: identifying and responding to internal and external challenges and influencing organisational culture so the organisation is supportive, inclusive and cohesive
* Be a key influencer, ensuring the voices of older people are heard, and shaping local strategy, policy and partnerships
* Ensure financial stability through financial planning and risk management
* Deliver an ambitious, aspirational and innovative strategy that has a clear measurable impact
Role overview
The Chief Executive will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the charity, providing effective leadership and direction for the organisation. The successful candidate will instil a positive culture, motivate the team to achieve strong results, and demonstrate a passion for supporting older people through their experiences. You will develop highly effective partnerships, be an active listener, an excellent communicator and an influencer and ambassador for the charity.
