Job Overview
We are looking to recruit three part‑time Phlebotomists to be part of a wider Phlebotomy team at Royal Cornwall Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Provide phlebotomy service to wards and outpatient departments, based at Royal Cornwall Hospital Truro.
* Start at 7 am and work on weekends, operating under the direction of the Phlebotomy lead.
* Observe all Trust policies and maintain service standards.
* Visit wards and outpatient clinics to take venous blood samples from patients as requested by doctors or nursing staff, following written procedures.
* Implement infection prevention and control measures in line with Trust guidelines.
* Arrange delivery of samples to the appropriate laboratories in accordance with Pathology policy.
* Carry out first‑line tests on blood samples as per written procedures.
* Respect patient confidentiality and dignity at all times.
* Follow all Trust procedures and policies, including Clinical Skills training and Health and Safety.
* Maintain regular contact with the Senior Phlebotomist to stay updated and receive training.
* Supervise and train team members.
