We are seeking an experienced and business-minded Legal Director to join a dynamic global media and entertainment organisation. This is a senior role providing strategic legal counsel and partnering closely with business leaders across multiple divisions, ensuring legal compliance while enabling creative and commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on a broad range of matters, including content production, distribution, licensing, marketing, and corporate governance.
* Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including distribution agreements, licensing deals, talent contracts, and vendor arrangements.
* Advise on intellectual property matters, ensuring protection and enforcement of content rights globally.
* Support corporate, regulatory, and compliance initiatives, including data privacy, competition, and employment-related matters.
* Partner with cross-functional teams (business, finance, HR, and creative) to manage legal risks while enabling commercial opportunities.
* Oversee external counsel where required, ensuring efficient and cost-effective service delivery.
* Mentor and support junior members of the legal team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Qualified solicitor or equivalent with strong academic credentials.
* Deep understanding of intellectual property, licensing, and commercial agreements.
* Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex, high-value contracts.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with both senior executives and creative teams.
* Demonstrated ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience managing or mentoring other legal professionals is desirable.
