Overview
An interesting and exciting opportunity has arisen for people with a genuine interest in healthcare and patient safety to become part of the team within the Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit (HSDU). We provide operating theatres, wards and departments with surgical instruments and medical devices required for sterile procedures. This job role supports the clinical and surgical teams in the provision of excellent, high quality and safe patient care.
Working hours and pattern
Hours of posts: 37.5 hours per week - part time will be considered.
Working pattern:
* Post 1: Tuesday night 9pm-7am, Wednesday night 9pm-7am, Thursday night 9pm-7am, Friday night 9pm-6:30am
* Post 2: Wednesday to Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am-4pm
Cross-site working between Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital is required; ability to travel independently between sites is required.
Responsibilities
* Support clinical and surgical teams with the provision of sterilised goods.
* Follow processes and procedures to ensure safe patient care.
* Interact with staff at all levels on a day-to-day basis.
* Maintain high levels of attention to detail and manual dexterity.
* Work independently or as part of a team.
Qualifications
* Good manual dexterity and high attention to detail.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to follow instructions and processes.
* Adventurous and enthusiastic with a general education.
* Experience in sterile services advantageous but not essential; full training will be provided.
* Adaptable, flexible approach to work and ability to work well within a team.
