Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated team on the Macmillan Windmill Unit at Blackpool Teaching Hospital.
The post holder will be required to assist outpatients clinics related to the haematology and oncology areas. Working alongside the consultants, nurses specialist and advance nurse practitioners to ensure the patient needs are met, and to assist with all clinic related procedures.
The successful candidate will be expected to work Monday to Friday from 08.00 until 20.00, depending of shift pattern necessary for the week, no weekends or bank holidays. In this position we offer full-time/part -time hours, on a permanent / fixed term contract.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a candidate that is interested in the cancer services department, supporting the outpatients clinics as able. Demonstrate empathy, compassion and care towards patients and team. The candidate will need to show good communication skills, and a positive attitude.

Education and Qualification
* Demonstrable numeracy and literacy skills in line with Level 1 / Grade D / Grade 3 or above
* Level 2 QCF diploma (Qualification Credit Framework) in Healthcare / NVQ level 2 Healthcare
* GCSE Maths and English grade C or above/ Grade 4 – 9
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience as a Healthcare Assistant
* Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting
* Ability to follow instructions
* Able to deal with sensitive issues and information with tact and diplomacy
